Set out from Pune with a staff and a lit diya and travel across India by motorbike, taxi, train and jeep, and the last miles on foot: up into the Sahyadri, across the cane fields to Sai Baba at Shirdi, south overnight to the seven hills, then north through the night to the high Himalaya. Pause for darshan at each shrine.

Aarti music by Krishna Das, played from his official YouTube channel; all rights belong to Krishna Das and his label. Visit krishnadas.com.
Choose "Temple" on the note chip (here, or in the controls bar on a wider screen) for the original temple music, synthesised in the page (no recordings); it also plays whenever the video cannot load.
The map is a stylised India with exaggerated relief. Shrines are drawn far larger than life so they can be seen; the route follows the usual road and rail corridors, and distances are approximate.
